Cleanliness is next to Manliness - NAVIGATING THE BATTLE OF MEN’S HYGIENE

Cleanliness is next to Manliness - NAVIGATING THE BATTLE OF MEN’S HYGIENE

THE BATTLE WORTH WINNING

During the Covid lockdowns, we got a crash course in life lessons! From testing our limits to discovering some interesting hygiene routines among friends, celebs, and influencers, we've definitely had our share of eye-opening moments. Let's just say, we've learned more about each other's toothbrush techniques and shower schedules than we ever expected! I recall sitting with a colleague recently and the topic of showers came up and he openly shared that he showered only 2-3 times a week, this from someone that lives a very active lifestyle of going to the gym daily and does minimal construction work. He's well- presented and extremely well groomed. At first yes, I reacted in a manner of how you might react which would be gasping but realizing we all have differing habits when it comes to hygiene. It can be tied to upbringing or even cultural background.

HOW DID I GET OVER
THE CULTURE
SHOCK?

As of my last update in January 2022, the global men's grooming and hygiene industry has been steadily growing, reflecting changing attitudes towards
personal grooming and self-care among men. However, specific data on the value of the men's hygiene segment within the broader grooming industry
can vary depending on geographical regions, product categories, and market trends.
Growing up in South America it was mandatory to shower daily, in some households' multiple times a day. But was that attributed to the surroundings? There was no access to air conditioning in the 80s/90s for domestic use and a
regular day was probably 85 degrees. Could the access to air conditions in the USA be a factor? Could It be the long winter seasons which suppressed body odors and lack sweating be the reason for the vast difference in behavior? In
recent months, the conversation has shifted, reshaping our perceptions and norms, especially when it comes to personal care.
We've seen a surge in cool hygiene products specifically designed for guys hitting the shelves. Brands like Mando and Native are leading the pack, catering to the male demographic with serious swagger.
Also, with the visibility and conversation starters from curated social media influencers on skincare and lifestyle aesthetics more of the male population is seemingly more accepting of that is seen as a driving force for the change. It's all about dudes feeling totally at ease in their own skin these days. They're diving headfirst into skincare, rocking those healthy hygiene routines, and owning those active lifestyles with a keen eye on their diet. And hey, the market's responding ,big time!
Men's grooming goodies like specialty soaps and body treatments are everywhere now, making the self-care game easier and more accessible than ever.
